چکیده
For thousands of years, medicinal herbs have been an integral part traditional medicine, since a number them exhibit potent antioxidant properties, mainly associated with their rich content in bioactive compounds. Based on these attributes, nowadays, are used for industrial purposes (e.g., as natural food additives) and also evaluated chemopreventive strategies diseases the disruption redox homeostasis. In that frame, aim present study was to appraise properties various or edible originating from region Epirus Greece. The antioxidant, reducing antigenotoxic effects herb decoction extracts were using series vitro cell‑free assays. Whereupon, non‑cytotoxic concentrations four most (i.e., Origanum vulgare, Salvia officinalis, Aloysia citrodora Rosmarinus officinalis) treat EA.hy926 endothelial cells, glutathione (GSH) reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels determined flow cytometry order detect potential changes induced intracellular equilibrium. results indicated apart Rosmarinus officinalis extract, which did not induce any following treatment, vulgare (50 µg/ml) Salvia (10 20 significant decrease GSH compared controls, while extract Aloysia citrodora bioactive, inducing at all (5, 10 µg/ml). On whole, tested exhibited capacity. addition, robust able disrupt mechanisms cell line, revealed by depletion levels, rendering promising contenders further studies.
